This Easy Jean Folding Hack Will Save You So Much Time and Space

Tags:

I have a confession: When it comes to folding my clothes, I’ll readily admit that I’m mediocre at best. Usually I make some half-hearted attempts before just shoving everything in a drawer, which obviously isn’t helpful for actually finding something to wear. Items like jeans and sweatpants are particularly challenging since they take up so much room in my dresser and aren’t packed all that efficiently; in fact, I typically can’t even see what I’m pulling out of any drawer. Given all of the trouble I’ve had, you can imagine how excited I was about this easy hack for folding jeans.

This tip was first shared by Natasha, the TikToker behind the popular personal organization account @effectivespaces. I love how straightforward her trick is.

Simply take a pair of pants and lay them out flat on a bed or other surface. Then, take the bottom of the legs and fold them to the top of the pants where the waistband is. Now that your pant legs are folded in half, take the folded bottom and bring it to the waistband again. Now that both legs of your pants are shorter and folded up, bring the two pant leg sides together, and look at that! You’ve got a nicely folded article of clothing.

Given that you’re folding the material several times, you may want to save this trick for pants that you aren’t too worried about creasing, like denim and sweatpants. (Maybe keep your precious suit pants on a hanger!) However, this tip is so great if you’re looking for extra space to fit more clothes into drawers since everything is more compact and flat. Considering I live in a small apartment and need to maximize my dresser as much as possible, a hack like this saves me that crucial bit of space to fit more. Needless to say, I won’t be going back to my old, messy ways any time soon.
