Getting active is all about finding a routine that easily fits into your lifestyle. We don’t all have hours to spend at the gym, or hundreds of dollars spend on fitness classes. Luckily, these days it’s easier than ever to workout at home. With so many routines and videos being posted online, you truly don’t need much more than a mat and a few minutes to get in shape. In fact, it’s even possible to build yourself a firm, toned tush in as little as five minutes a day.
Posting a video to her YouTube channel, model Kelly Gale (best known for her work with Victoria’s Secret) shared a short and sweet butt workout that is totally beginner-friendly. Gale describes this routine as perfect for those who aren’t used to engaging their glutes (i.e. if you sit much of the day) — and with that, I was sold. After giving her routine a try, I can attest that these moves are simple, yet really bring the heat.
For the workout, your body weight provides the resistance, so there’s no equipment required. Each move targets the glutes as well as the quads and hamstrings.
To do Kelly Gale’s five-minute glute workout, perform each exercise listed below for 30 seconds.
- Lunge, right leg
- Lunge, left leg
- Squat pulse
- Glute bridge
- Glute bridge pulse
- Single-leg glute bridge (left leg in the air)
- Single-leg glute bridge with leg lift
- Single-leg glute bridge (right leg in the air)
- Single-leg glute bridge with leg drop

This glute workout may look easy, but it really fired up my whole lower body! Incorporating a short strength-building routine like this into your days can have a huge impact on your overall health and fitness. Just be sure to target different muscle groups on different days, allowing enough time for recovery.
