Making hard boiled eggs is one of those things that seems so easy, but there’s somehow still a whole lot that can go wrong. One common mistake often leads to them cracking while they’re in the pot — but there’s a simple way keep hard boiled eggs from cracking.
It turns out, the key is to make sure you’re not adding cold eggs straight from the fridge into your boiling water. Instead, let them come up to room temperature first.
You can do this by leaving them out on the counter for about 20 minutes, or you can let them sit in a bowl of room temperature water while you wait for the pot to boil. According to Jake Cohen from the Feedfeed, it should only take about five minutes for the eggs to warm up to room temperature, too. This way, you end up with what he describes as “super perfect eggs.”
