Princess Diana will always be remembered as one of the world’s most stunning natural beauties, but even she had to deal with common skin issues like rosacea.

Despite reports that Diana struggled with the condition, most of us only ever remember her having absolutely glowing skin. That’s apparently because she relied on things like calming rose oil (Buy at Sephora, $32) and homemade avocado masks to prevent flare ups.

According to Diana’s friend and makeup artist Mary Greenwell, the People’s Princess also stuck to a simple routine of cleansing, toning, and moisturizing twice a day to keep her skin flawless.

“Diana was very sensible when it came to her skin,” Greenwell told Stylist in 2012. “She would always make sure she took her makeup off at the end of the day and make sure she always had a clean face before applying makeup.”

Greenwell added that Diana’s healthy lifestyle choices helped her maintain that gorgeous glow. “After I started working with her, Diana did everything in moderation. She cut back on drinking so her skin was 100 percent.” Alcohol is a common trigger for rosacea, so keeping that to a minimum likely helped Diana avoid any unsightly splotches popping up.

The makeup artist described Diana as “pure magic” and that all of the techniques paid off with “the most incredible skin.” Greenwell also shared her belief that if Diana were still around today, she would be using serums and “definitely wearing sunblock every day.”

Although Greenwall doesn’t share the exact anti-aging serums she’d recommend Diana use today, she recently shared two of her personal favorites: Medik8 R-Retinoate Serum (Buy on Amazon, $244.95) and Clé de Peau Beauté The Serum (Buy at Macy’s, $190).
